Case Study Summary

Background

This project was inspired by the Watch Dogs 2 video game. The goal was to create the main character's room which never appeared in the final game.

Contributions

I handled everything from 3D modeling and texturing to lighting schemes and visual effects. By meticulously taking care of each creative and technical aspect, I succeeded in materializing what was once just a concept into a fully-realized, immersive virtual space.

Building the Foundations

3D Modeling and Texturing

Marcus' Room stands as a testament to my intricate 3D modeling and texture baking skills. By focusing on even the minutest details, I was able to convert an abstract concept into a believable, tangible space.

  • 3D Modeling: Handled the design and construction of all 3D models, paying close attention to geometrical accuracy and detail.
  • Texture Baking: Utilized advanced techniques for baking textures onto the models, enhancing their visual appeal and realism.
  • Asset Optimization: Ensured the 3D models and textures were optimized for performance, maintaining a balance between visual quality and runtime efficiency.
  • Artistic Integrity: Successfully translated concept art into 3D models, preserving the artistic vision while adding my own creative touches

Illuminating a Digital Space

Lighting and Post-Processing

The atmosphere of Marcus' Room was significantly amplified by my work on lighting schemes and post-processing techniques. These elements not only embellished the scene but also contributed to a deeply immersive gaming experience.

  • Advanced Lighting: Developed complex lighting schemes that added depth and mood to the virtual environment.
  • Visual Effects: Implemented a range of visual effects to complement the lighting and add dynamism to the scene.
  • Post-Processing: Managed all post-processing work, including color grading and visual enhancements, to elevate the final output to the highest quality standards.
  • Technical Finesse: Leveraged in-engine tools to ensure optimal lighting and post-processing effects without compromising performance.
